Plans for $3 Million Tiny Home Village in Pueblo, Colorado

A non-profit in Pueblo, has applied for a federal grant to build homeless housing in the city.

The Pueblo House – a group fighting homelessness in the city, is eyeing part of the $36.7 million given to the city of Pueblo as part of the American Rescue Plan Act funds.

They have applied for $3 million.

“There is a need and I’m hoping people see it. I hope the city sees it,” said Janet Smith, the Executive Director and Founder of the Pueblo House.

The non-profit recently purchased 4 acres of land, which they want to build a tiny house community on. On top of the houses, the village will also have shared amenities like a community center and a dog park.

A priority for the organization is homeless veteran. “My comment was always – How can we be home of the veterans and not have homes for veterans,” Smith wondered.

The city of Pueblo is still accepting suggestions on what it should do with the federal grant.
