UnCategorized Dara Singh is a wrestler-turned-Bollywood actor. He is active in Bollywood for more than 5 decades now and is also a successful director, writer and producer of many Punjabi films. Dara Singh was born as Dara Singh Randhawa on 19th November 1928 in Amritsar, Punjab, India in a Jat family. In his childhood, Singh was encouraged to learn Pahelwani, an Indian form of wrestling. He was a wrestling favorite in India, and has also defeated many professional wrestlers from other countries. Singh has made many Bollywood films with him in lead roles. Bollywood actress Mumtaz, who starred in 16 films, was one of his notable finds. Dara Singh first appeared on the silver screen in Director R C Talwar black and white film, SANGDIL (1952). Raj Kanwar FARZ (2001) was an action film revolving around a comradeship between two police Officers. Dara Singh played the role of Tayaji in this film. In 2002, Singh starred in Gurudev Bhalla film SHARARAT (2002) along withAbhishek Bachchan, Hrishita Bhatt, Amrish Puri, Om Puri and A. K. Hangal. Singh was next seen acting in BORDER HINDUSTAN KA (2003) directed by Yogesh Bharadwaj. The Romantic action film starred Faisal Khan,Aditya Pancholi, Priya Gill, Akshaye Khanna and Dina Pathak. KAL HO NA HO (2003) was a romantic film directed by Nikhil Advani. The film starred Jaya Bhaduri, Shahrukh Khan, Saif Ali khan, Sonali Bendre and Sushma Seth. Dara Singh essayed a small role in this film. After KAL HO NA HO (2003), Singh next Hindi film was Imtiaz Ali JAB WE MET (2007). Singh played the character of Dadaji (Grandfather) in this film. The lead star cast of the film includes Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Tarun Arora. Singh was also part of the star-cast of 42 KMS. (2009).
